Fenwway 2012

We seem to be travel fools as of late, and made a trip to Boston this weekend.  Seven packed bags later (for ONE night!) and a yard sale and baby shower out of the way, we finally were on the road to Fenway.  A few weeks ago, I purchased a stuffed Wally at a yard sale and Abby has since tossed all other stuffed animals off to the floor to make room.  Abby was so excited to see Wally in the flesh!  Not Fenway, not the Sox, not Chipper Jones' last game in Fenway...just Wally!  Oh, and the train.  We had intended on making a big weekend out of the trip and decided to stay in Copley Place at the Marriott.

Getting ready to kiss Wally!

Abby got to see Wally, ride the train (for two whole stops), spend time with my brothers and girlfriends, and meet up with several of our friends from Vermont!  What fun!

In lieu of the museum we came back early and made ourselves welcome at the Braiser pool.... I think we're all going to bed pretty early tonight.

Big Sister Abby!

Since the secret is mostly out, we thought we'd share with the whole wide world web.  It's official - Abby's going to be a big sister come mid-December!  She is ready!

We shared the news with our immediate families by dressing up Abby in this adorable shirt.  It didn't take long for everyone to figure it out.  :-)  Reactions were quite funny and of course congratulatory.  We even Skyped with the Burlingames!   Because of distance some "got the call".

The first tri-semester was clearly not as exciting as Abby's was.  The nausea, lack of appetite, and fatigue was extremely overwhelming. Tim had a couple of week long trips in that same time frame that made life a bit more challenging. Thankfully, family was just a phone call away.  Just in the past week, I have started to feel more normal and be up past 8pm.  It's nice to have a bit more energy to play with the fabulous diva above.

All of our appointments have gone well including the most recent this past Wednesday.  We (Tim, Abby, and I) finally heard the very strong heartbeat (150 bpm).  With day care being closed for a few weeks for vacation, Abby came along for the ride. She was a bit timid, but gave the baby a tickle and said, "good morning!" while the doctor broadcasted the heartbeat.

We do anticipate finding out if Abby will be having a baby brother or baby sister.  She's leaning toward sister but often says brother when we ask her what she wants.  Obviously she doesn't have any say, but it can't hurt to wish! Stay tuned for the end of July.

So, here we go again....

Happy Father's Day!

This year three significant gift-giving opportunities fell within 17 days for Tim.  His birthday, anniversary, and Father's Day.  Since he was taking care of me for his birthday, I really had to make it up big time.  We had been talking about getting a kayak for a few months and was going to hold out for a score at the employee store.  I decided the three "holidays" were enough to just head up to Freeport and get one.  With the help of my brother and his big truck, I loaded up a shiny new red kayak, all the Thule components, a few accessories and away we went.

We had gone to Rob's house to pick up a "check" and my brother had asked him to help move something upstairs.  As the ascended the stairs, Rob says, "you might as well carry that to your car."  Tim was a bit surprised and so very excited.

Off to Great Pond (behind our house)

"See you in a bit, Dad!"
I think he liked it :-)  So, Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, and most especially - Happy Father's Day!

Happy 5th Anniversary to us!

Holy shnikes 5 years has gone by fast.  Yesterday, June 16th, 2012 we celebrated our fifth year of being in wedded bliss.  Tim and I had the opportunity to reflect upon the happenings at breakfast at Becky's - without Abby :-)  Mimi ended up hanging with her for the entire day.  Thanks a bunch, Mimi!

We were blessed with so many well wishes for the day and very special mementos.  Our friends Chris and Kate G stopped by to say hi and give us a little something.  Apparently, I'm not the only hoarder - Kate had saved all or our paper items from the wedding (invite, program, save the date, etc), took pictures of each, and made a Shutterfly book out of them.  So neat to reflect on all the hard work from planning the day in a nice coffee table book!  Thanks, guys!

My Mom also made us a quilt which had fabric squares guests from my bridal showers had written. A beautiful gift to commemorate such a special day - then and now.

in its entirety

one of my favorite squares - fitting, huh?
When we married, we were still living in Vermont.  We always find our way home.

We Love Maine!

I'm currently listening to Abby talk to herself.  In fact, it's been about 1 hour and 20 minutes.  She should be napping but apparently the five minute snooze on the beach was her refresh.  The fresh air from our morning breakfast date at Willard Beach coupled with the quick jaunt to Crescent beach clearly wore her out, but just not enough.  I've promised a third beach followed by ice cream if she naps.  Maybe she's not as excited about that as I am?  Good thing we live in Maine so we can hit the beach within minutes.  :-)  swooon

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Poor Tim spent the week of his 37th (yesterday) birthday taking care of a wife with step throat and a 2 1/2 crazy kid.  Thankfully, Mimi pitched in and helped with Abby.  She even bought Tim a cake and a card from Abby!  Slacker of a Mom I am.  I promised Tim a do-over as soon as I'm 100%. We'll combine it with our anniversary and Father's Day.  I'm glad I thought to order something a little order so he had a small gift to open :-)

Of course we've been talking birthdays all morning because Uncle Rob celebrates his big 3-0 tomorrow.  We got home from running a few errands this morning and as I found Abby in my "party drawer" of my craft room.  She was grabbing party hats for everyone to wear while we enjoyed cake for dessert.  Seriously, awesomely cute and totally unprovoked.  So, Happy Birthday, Tim!  It certainly has been a wonderful year and we wish you all good things for the next!  Love you lots....
