February Getaway

In lieu of a warm Florida trip, we opted for a couple of long weekends in the first half of the year.  Boston in February and Pennsylvania in June.  Our Boston trip was a quick 4 day extravaganza where we made the hotel pool our “warm” destination.  The Burlingames joined us at the aquarium, pizza delivery by the pool, and late night swimming.  We even visited the Rainforest CafĂ© where my nephew treated Abby and Sam with a $20 gift each at the gift shop. What a sweetheart!  The girls treated ourselves to pedicures and Abby used some of her well earned money on new pink glittery nail polish!

We used this trip a lesson in saving pennies for something you really want.  Back in January we told Abby we were going to Boston and staying at the hotel.  Whenever she wanted something a store or C Salt, the neighborhood gourmet bakery, we gently told her no and let her know we were saving for our trip. On the way out of town, we gave Abby $20 to spend as she wished.  She got 4 doughnut holes, nail polish, and a light up gadget from the museum gift store.  She had to borrow $5 for that and she gave us an “IOU”.  We cashed it in at the next snow storm and she helped Tim shovel the walk way, and she helped me wash the kitchen floor.  Ahh, the lessons we must teach!

Mary Poppins

Abby loves going to the theater and this year’s High School production was Mary Poppins.  As usually, they did a spectacular job and Abby is now in love with the music.  Her favorites are everyone’s favorites, but she especially loves “spoonful of sugar”.  Mimi joined us for the show!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Who doesn’t love a nicely set table, lobsters, and your own choice for dinner?

Disney on Ice 2015

Mimi treated the kids to this year’s production of Disney on Ice. All of the Disney characters made an appearance and the kids gobbled it right up.  They were enthralled with the music, skating, lights, and of course the highlights – Elsa and Anna. I don't know where the other pictures are, but the kids had fun!
