201

This is  "Measure in Life in Love's" 201st post!  I knew we were up there, but over 200!  Woo Hoo!

We've been practicing going up and sliding down the slide.  With all our playing, I've noticed Abby's attention span is approximately 30 seconds.  As noted in the following video.

Since 98.9% of the posts are about Abby, why would this one be any different? :-)

15 Month Well Visit

The good news is that Abby is very well.  Despite a couple of vaccines (aka shots that sting for a few minutes after), she is doing just awesome.

Weight: 18.6 pounds (2%) hahahaha
Length: 30.6" (50%) yayay!
Head circumference: 45 cm (66%)  Big brain!

I even tried to "throw the weigh in" by giving her a cup of milk before her appt.  Contemplating putting lead in her diaper, I remembered she weighs in butt naked.  Hmpf.

On to the details....Abby eats well, is super active, doing well on all her gross motor skills (walking, etc) and fine motor skills (pinching stuff), has a handful of words (doc expects around four), getting loads of teeth, sleeps well, and drum roll please....had almond butter for lunch! I've been holding off on peanut butter for the peanut allergy scares the bejesus out of me.  Forty-five minutes after lunch we seem to be in the clear.

She did get her vaccines today for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella (chix pox).  We did talk about the autism concern, but both Tim and I want Abby to have her vaccines on schedule.  For her safety and the safety of other kiddos.

All in all, we are pretty excited about Abby's growth.  We'll keep on feeding her what we eat and hope her appetite keeps up!

Fifteen Months

Today is a special day.  Not just because Abby is 15 months (cause, let's be honest, who really cares about turning 15 months??? :-)  Dear friends of ours are hopefully bringing their almost 7 week old baby home.  They received the call just a few weeks ago indicating their adoption process is almost complete - that the long application and wait are almost over!  How special is THAT?!!

As I reflect on Abby in her full-on teething mode, clingy self, and crying on the floor, I think about our friends who are beginning one of life's most magical, selfless, rewarding, joyful and loving journey's.  God bless and enjoy every minute of it.  Before you know it, she'll be 15 months old.

Abby's official 15 month appointment is Thursday, so I'll post her stats then!

Daddy's Valentine

I had a lot of fun this year for Valentine's Day to say the least.  Abby and I played cupid and delivered Valentine's and roses to our loved ones.  At Mimi's work we showed off her new, very appropriate, cupid outfit.  My favorite part?  The Baby Legs!

I also made Abby her Valentine's Day present.  Inspired by Pottery Barn Kids and a print I found in Target, I made this for $6.99 (frame) and the minimal cost of printing in color at home.  I adore how it came out and love the fact I could color coordinate with her room.

Seriously - the smirk??  LOVE it!
Tim surprised me with a night away in Portland, a fantastic dinner at Benkay, roses, and a box of chocolates.  Valentine's Day 2011 goes down in history as one of the best yet!

Les Miserables and The Future

I had the privileged of attending this years SPHS performance of Les Miserables with some good friends of mine last evening.  While the performance was riveting, well-done, and a performance to be proud of, I was overcome with emotion about what the future holds for Abby.  Seeing these wonderfully talented kids (and I use "kids" loosely as many of you know the adult content of Les Mis) I wondered what Abby might be talented in. Will she be a rock star on the court, field, or pool?  Will she have a strong hand in the arts, music, or theater world?  Will she be a doctor, lawyer, or non-profit guru?  These thoughts ran through my head as the lead belted out a solo and received a partial standing ovation.  Will that someday be Abby?  All I know is that she rocks my world now, and now matter what she does I will be very proud of her.  For at 14 months, I already am.  Toilet lover and all.

The Toilet

I have no idea why Abby is obsessed with this appliance (is this what it is?).  For real.  We keep the doors shut to every room upstairs except for her own and on occasion forget the bathroom door.  I'm comforted that nothing in there can harm her, but everything she *might* do in there certainly causes annoyance.  Well, annoyance coupled with laughter and a little bit of joy in her adventurous personality.

When it's quiet, I know Abby is somewhere she probably shouldn't be.  Most of the time it's here:

We have lost rolls and rolls of toilet paper, washed countless hands, and shut that door millions of times.  Maybe it's truly the land of the forbidden that gets her, or the cold water, or the splash she loves to make as she dips her hand in.  I have no idea, but if she really knew what the toilet was for, she probably would back off.

The Monkey

We are trying very hard to stay sane in the wake of copious amounts of snow and Abby's flash cards are a big hit.  There are 15 pictures of animals and we play, "Abby, where's the puppy?"  She does well with the dog, kitten, crab, cow, and a few others.  The Monkey is the new biggest hit, especially when we make the sound of a monkey.  She laughs hysterically!  In storing her birthday cards, wouldn't you know this particularly monkey just happened to fall out. From our friends, Jen and Liz, Abby's psyched to have found the card!  She plays with it all.the.time!

In addition to the monkey, her new obsession is her squeaky shoes.  We are very lucky to have fantastic friends who hand down some styling clothes and accessories.  I recently switched Abby's closet from her 6-12 month clothes to her 12-18 month items.  And, in these tubs were the most awesome shoes that squeak when she walks.  Not really appropriate for library hour which we found out today, but she runs up and down the hall just to hear them!

ok, so I know this is sideways, turn your monitor or your head :}
